Wirtek proudly celebrates the 25th anniversary of Pragmasoft, one of its recently acquired companies, marking a quarter-century of innovation in real-time and safety-critical software for the energy, mobility and industrial sectors.
Established by Humberto Ferreira, Pragmasoft began by developing custom software and systems integration solutions. Over the following decades, the company built deep expertise in SCADA systems, automation software, and real-time communication protocols, serving clients across energy, mobility, communications, automotive and industrial automation. Pragmasoft’s dedication to technological excellence earned it the Portuguese National Multimedia Award in 2012 and recognition for its leadership in R&D. The company has also been an active member of the Aliança para a Transição Energética (ATE) since 2024, contributing to Portugal’s national sustainability goals.
In July 2024, Pragmasoft became part of the Wirtek Group, following Wirtek’s acquisition of the company as part of its Accelerate25XL growth strategy. Following the acquisition, Wirtek established a new office in Porto to support its multi-sourcing strategy and diversify its delivery footprint beyond. Pragmasoft now operates within Wirtek’s Solutions division, contributing its technologies and domain knowledge to the development of scalable, product-based energy and IoT solutions.
Wirtek’s 2024 Annual Report noted that the acquisition significantly strengthened the Group’s services in clean energy and industrial automation. By the end of 2024, the Energy business unit had grown by 84%, becoming one of Wirtek’s key revenue contributors. A hallmark of Pragmasoft and Wirtek’s journey has been its long-standing collaboration with Efacec, spanning over 15 years and delivering advances in substation automation, SCADA integration and grid management solutions that have strengthened Portugal’s clean-energy infrastructure.
"The integration with Wirtek has expanded our reach and strengthened our ability to deliver end-to-end solutions in energy and industrial automation. It’s a partnership rooted in shared values and a common vision of sustainable growth through technology.” - Humberto Ferreira, Business Unit Director at Wirtek
As Pragmasoft marks its 25-year milestone, its story reflects both resilience and innovation, a journey from a small Portuguese software house to a key enabler of Wirtek’s clean-energy transformation strategy. Under Wirtek’s ownership, Pragmasoft’s expertise continues to power new opportunities for sustainable, digital and connected energy systems.
